Changelog

Follow new updates and improvements to Scenario.

Scenario v4.5

Revamped the diagram editor’s floor plan tools.

  • Released October 10, 2026

  • Availability: all devices, all accounts

Floor plan upgrades

Previously, floor plan items (Wall, Door, Window, and others) were included in the Add Item sidebar. However, this made them harder to access, and didn’t really fit with the other equipment.

  • Floor plan items now have their own toolbar. Open it using the Floor Plan button, next to Markup in “quick items”. From the toolbar, drag items onto the diagram.

  • We’ve added a new Room Scan tool! This works on any LiDAR-equipped device (iPhone and iPad, depending on the exact model), and allows you to make a 3D scan of any space. We save this data as a Room Scan item, which you can export as 3D data, or duplicate as an editable group of floor plan items (to make your own adjustments).

  • The Distance item can now position each endpoint independently – and you can connect one or both endpoints to other items, so you have a permanent, visible measurement.

  • The Rectangle item now has adjustable rounded corners.

  • Other usability fixes to floor plans; for example, automatically adding Door, Window, and Gap items to existing groups, when they’re connected to a Wall in a group.

Scenario v4.2

Now you can “rig” items to other items, plus improvements to pipes and frames on the gear list.

  • Released September 14, 2026

  • Availability: all devices, all accounts

Item rigging

Item types can “rig” to others, such as fixtures to truss, camera to dolly, and more.

  • With the “snap” feature on, drag an item over a compatible item to rig it

  • Then, moving the “parent” item brings all rigged items with it

  • Supports rigging multiple items, and multiple layers of rigging (camera → dolly → track, etc)

See Snap, Targeting, Rigging, Connections for more info!

Pipe and Frame lengths

Instead of having one long Pipe, Truss, or Dolly Track, now you can decide which lengths you want to use to build your pipes.

  • Choose the specific section lengths you want to use to build any pipe, truss, dolly track, or frame (this works just like distro cables)

  • Pipes will break down by length, and count the totals of all segment sizes to add to the gear list

  • Certain pipes and frames also add hardware: corners & ears, couplers

v4.2.1

  • When an item is deleted, its “child” items are deleted with it

  • Fixed an issue where text labels might not save if the app was sent to the background

Scenario v4.0

Mac and Windows native apps, plus an easier “Visibility” editor for diagrams

  • Released July 27, 2026

  • Availability: all devices, all accounts

Mac and Windows apps

We’re releasing two native apps for Mac and Windows computers!

  • Take advantage of larger screens, without the web browser bars

  • Download directly from the Scenario website, so it’s not managed through an App Store

  • Check for new versions, and download them directly in the app

  • Allows easier subscription management and invoices through Stripe

  • Fixes all known issues with zooming diagrams and text entry, on Silicon Macs

  • Note: if you have the existing Silicon Mac version, delete it and download the new one. The previous version is no longer available in the Mac App Store.

Item visibility

We’ve moved the Layers > Types table, the grid controls, and the feet/meters option into the new Visibility sidebar.

  • Easy to find and toggle, with a lower-left button or the V key

  • Quickly hide or lock all items of a certain type, to focus on what’s most important to your work

v4.0.1

Bug fixes:

  • Multi-selected Groups can be moved together

  • Multi-selected Groups and Frames can be rotated together

  • Possible error message when targeting items

  • Added a “Return to Scenario” button for desktop app login through Google or Apple
